LDR = Long Distance Relationship
back in 2000, i had a LDR with my then-boyfriend. he was in mmu, cyberjaya doing his alpha years and i was in arau for my matriculation. back then, phone calls werent cheap, smses between different operators cost a fortune and mind u, i was on my parent’s allowances. so we make do with what we had. limited phone calls, timeless waiting in line for the public phone and once-in-a-while dates when i got back or when he would come to perlis. somehow, we made it work for a year. but after i finish with matrix and move back to kl, we only survive for a month before we broke up…what went wrong? i have no idea.
now, i’m in a new LDR. again, i’m in perlis and he’s way back in kl. things are good so far. maybe one of the reason is because i’m always home most of the weekends or he’s back in his hometown. phone calls are cheaper with various plans, free smses and i’m not on my parent’s allowance anymore. we talk, we smses, we chat, we video chat, almost everything we can to make as if we are just a few miles away, but in reality, it will takes about 7 hours for him to come here. it is not the same as seeing him in person, but i’ll manage. i dont want to jinx anything, but i’m really hoping this one would stick…
